"I lost a treasured friend today

A special dog who used to lay

His gentle head upon my knee

And share his silent thoughts with me."

It was a busy and productive day 

for this pair of two-year olds.

Hayne and Hayes not only rearranged Mia's Halloween decorations  . . . 

they also "exterminated" ants on the kitchen windowsill by running over them with their race cars!

What would I ever do without them?

Look! Up in the sky!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

It's "Super Pa!"

That's right! Pa took to the skies in a PT-17 courtesy of Ageless Aviation Dreams.   

After a memorable flight and a safe landing, 

Pa was given a souvenir cap 

and congratulated for 

service to his country during WW2.

 It was a big day for Pa ...
and two of his biggest fans!

But wait! There's more!

Our other veteran, McDaddy, took his turn soaring through the clouds, too!  

(But he was NOT allowed to navigate!)
It was a fun family day!

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on affection and let people touch you - enjoy back rubs and pats on your neck.
When you leave your yard, make it an adventure.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't pout - run right back and make friends.
Bond with your pack.
On cold nights, curl up in front of a crackling fire.
When you're excited, speak up.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want.
Don't go out without ID.
Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
Always give people a friendly greeting.
If it's not wet and sloppy, it's not a real kiss.

Rivers has big news.

He lost his first tooth!

Fair Enough

September 6th

One more grandchild was indoctrinated into "McDaddy's End-of-Summer Boot Camp for Fun," otherwise known as the 

South Carolina Upper State Fair! 

Sadly our newest inductee didn't quite measure up. 

I guess Hayes has been right all along: 

"I not a Big Boy. I a Big Baby!"  

But with a little help from Mama,

McDaddy,

and a few good friends, 
it was a pretty fun night for Big Baby!

After performing their good deed for Hayes, these three experienced fair go-ers said good-bye to "Choo Choo Charlie" and headed for the roller coaster!

The "Fearless Frontus Friends" flew through the evening sky with smiles and screams . . . 

as the sun began to set on the fairgrounds.

Next up was the Giant Ferris Wheel!

While the bravest among us floated through the night sky high above the colorful lights,

some of us watched from below.

   

As our night at the fair came to a close, most of us celebrated with junk food . . .

and one last ride down the Fun Slide. 

But not Mia!  She was still looking for 
"Some 'Terrific' Pig" and feeling grateful that kids really do "hold on tighter than their parents think they do."

Pa's a real "swinger!"
