In June, we celebrated Steve's retirement with a trip to visit Laurie, Shay and Rivers. Laurie gave us a guided tour of Salt Lake City which included Tabernacle Square,
Rivers' "Truck Park,"
Ruth's Diner
and Snow Bird.
(Where Rivers performed some amazing stunts.)
After a few days in Salt Lake City,
we the road for Las Vegas. . .
to see the sights. . .
do a little relaxing . . .
a little shopping . . .
and a little "winning!"
Then it was off to the Grand Canyon which really was more exciting for us than Las Vegas.
We saw the canyon from the West Rim which is part of an Indian reservation. Steve planned this part of the trip so it was more than just a sight-seeing excursion.
We flew down into the canyon by helicopter and then boarded a boat for a guided tour of part of the Colorado River. It was awe-inspiring to say the least, and very hot!
It really is a "Grand" Canyon.
Just when we thought we couldn't possibly have any more fun than we had already had, we spent a few more days with our favorite daughter, favorite son-in-law and favorite first grandchild. . . and had to admit that Shay and Laurie made a great decision to spend their Fellowship Year in SLC!
*And as an extra special treat,
they told us we could expect a new grandchild to arrive in February!
